Assurance for the Imperfect

I can deeply relate to the imperfections of being human because I am one myself. And yet, I’ve come to see how God, in His grace, can use anyone of us. His hand leads us, not because we are perfect, but because He is faithful. Through our weaknesses, His glory and grace are revealed. As Romans 8:28 reminds us, “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” This truth brings great comfort to my heart – God is good.

The second reflection is about the choices we make in life – choices that either draws into the light of Christ or pull us toward the shadows. But how can we speak of the Light – Jesus Christ – if we choose to walk in darkness? We may hide the truth from others, but we can never quiet the unrest in our hearts. Still, there is hope. There is no sin so great that it can make God love us less, and no good so grand that it can make Him love us more. He loves us just as we are, with all our flaws and imperfections.

Many of you may be facing fierce antagonism, rejection from friends or family, the pain of a broken marriage, the loss of a cherished friendship, bitter disappointment, financial hardship or something equally heavy. But hear this: you will get through. And the reason you will get through is because God’s power is at work in your life.

You are not alone – God is with you. You may be shaken, but you will not be shattered. Knocked down, but not knocked out. In the midst of it all, there is a sweet assurance that holds you steady: the unchanging truth that God is for you, and He will never leave you. And more than that, you will come through this with a heart of thanksgiving. Because even in your trials, God is drawing you closer to Himself. And that nearness is a gift beyond measure.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
